Hmar (ISO 639-3 code: hmr)
Hmar is a non-scheduled Indian language belonging to the Tibeto-Burman family. It is also known as Khawsak ṭawng. This language found its place in the school curriculum of Assam, Manipur and Mizoram. Recently, Hmar has been recognised as one of the Modern Indian Language (MIL) at Manipur University. Hmar language is one of the major languages of the Mizoram. This language is spoken in Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya. The number of speakers of Hmar is 98988 (as per the 2011 Census).
