This is a description of the process of marriage in the community. The Birjia people contact the girl's family through a middleman, who is specific for different villages. They then receive requests for marriage and acquire candidates for the same. In Birjia community, the younger brother can marry their elder brother's wife when the elder brother passes, but not the other way round. Marriages in the Birjia community have their own set of rules and restrictions, as mentioned here.
