| Title | Elicitation of sentences with different word order, classifiers, reflexives and reciprocals, interrogatives, gerendial constructions, and tense, aspect, mood; simple and complex sentences |
| Type | .wav |
| Notes | This is an elicitation of sentences. The consultant repeats each sentence three times. The resource persons have taken care to elicit according to the SPPEL Language Documentation Handbook. There is a contact person who makes sure the resource persons and consultants understand each other, who is perhaps bridging the gaps between Muduga, Malayalam and Tamil. In the middle, one of the consultants recites a story in Muduga, which someone else explains in broken Tamil. The story is about a man and a woman and two dogs. When the couple try to snatch the babies, the dogs take the babies to forest and take care of them. Later the elder daughter becomes selfish and the younger becomes kind. The moral is that you cannot feign kindness. |
