Yimchungru (Ethnologue ISO 639-3: yim / Glottocode: yimc1241)

Yimchungru is a member of the Sino-Tibetan (or Tibeto-Burman family). It is mainly spoken by Yimkhiung Naga tribe people in Tuensang district in Nagaland in North-East India. Yimchungru is spoken between Namchik and Patkoi in Tuensang district of Nagaland. The word Yimchungre means ‘the ones who have reached their place of choice’. It includes various synonymous names such as Yimchungru, Yimchungru-Naga, Yimchunger. The people do not have any script of their own. As per the latest 2011 census, 83, 259 of the population has declared Yimchungru language as their Mother Tongue.
