Vaiphei (ISO-639-3 code: vap)
Vaiphei is a Mizo-Kuki-Chin language of India, spoken in Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura. It is the mother tongue of 42748 persons according to the 2011 census. The dialect spoken in Manipur exhibits at least partial mutual intelligibility with the other Mizo/Kukish dialects of the area including Thadou, Hmar, Paite, Simte, Kom and Gangte languages. Vaiphei is spoken in more than 30 villages of Churachandpur district, southern Manipur. There are also speakers in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
