Gojri (ISO 639-3 code:gju)

Gojri is a non-scheduled language of India. It belongs to the Indo-Aryan Family. Gojri is also known as Gurjari, Gojuri, Gujjari and is a variety of Rajasthani spoken by Gujjars and other tribes of India. In the Linguistic Survey of India, G.A. Grierson categorised Gojri language under the Western Pahari group of Languages. The language is mainly spoken in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Hariyana, Gujrat, Maharastra, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Delhi. Jammu & Kashmir has recognised Gujari by including it in the sixth schedule of the state constitution. It is also spoken in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The total population of the Gojris is 1227901 (as per the 2011 Census).
