Abstract
Originally written in Gujarati and then translated in English by Gandhi himself, the book gives a diagnosis for the problems of humanity in modern times, the causes, and his remedy. It sends a strong message and inspires people in India to work for independence from British colonial control. Gandhi also encourages India to reject armed conflict and instead adopt a policy of nonviolent, passive resistance.
