Indian Languages in digital space: Sharing knowledge through web-portal and mobile app

Abstract

The book is categorised into four chapters. The first two chapters, namely, 1) Indian Languages in Web Space; 2) Mother Tongue and its Importance, deal with how Indian languages can be integrated in web space, the challenges and difficulties, methods of digital care of indigenous knowledge resources, why digitisation and archiving are absolute necessities to preserve cultural and linguistic heritage, status of mother tongues in Indian and the constitutional provisions granted to them. The final two chapters: 3) Disseminating Digital Information In Indian Languages: Bharatavani- The Biggest Knowledge Portal In The World and 4) Text Searchable Dictionaries and Glossaries present to the readers about the facilities and functionalities of Bharatavani portal and mobile application and a brief report on the contents that are made digitally available for public consumption.
